Missions of the National Commission of UNESCO
The National Commission is a body for consultation, liaison, implementation and information in the fields of competence of UNESCO. As such, she:
- exercise an advisory role to the Government and the services, organizations, institutions and persons concerned with matters within the competence of UNESCO;
- collaborates with government and partner agencies in the development and implementation of UNESCO’s programs;
- ensures the permanent liaison between the various ministries, educational, scientific and cultural organizations of Cameroon interested in the aims and activities of UNESCO;
- establishes constant liaison with the National Commissions of the different Member States, as well as with the headquarters and sub-regional representation of UNESCO;
- participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of UNESCO’s programs and resolutions. participates in the development of the policy of cooperation with UNESCO;
- informs UNESCO about different aspects of Cameroonian educational, scientific and cultural life;
- disseminate information on UNESCO’s programs and activities; serves as an interface between the Government of the Republic of Cameroon and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO);
- endorse, monitor and evaluate UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations in line with UNESCO’s missions and objectives;
- carry out all other missions entrusted to it by the Government.
